What is SFIS?
SFIS (Student Faculty Information System) is the University’s comprehensive system to support student service offices. The software for SFIS is PeopleSoft Campus Solutions. SFIS is the primary system for the Admission, Registrar, Dean’s, Academic Affairs, Student Accounts, Graduate Liberal Studies, Public Safety, Residential Life, Wesleyan Station and the Graduate Student Services offices.
There are two other PeopleSoft databases in use at Wesleyan – HRMS (for Human Resources) and WFS (Financial System). Neither is part of this blog.
How can I request access to the SFIS database?
Most employees with a business need have already been given the appropriate access to the SFIS database. If you are a new employee or have recently acquired new job responsibilities which require access into SFIS, please ask your supervisor to submit a request by submitting the Combined SFIS/HRMS/WFS PeopleSoft Operator Request/Change Form.
As indicated by the name, this form is designed to request security access for all three PeopleSoft databases.

The Operator Request/Change Form is also available in your WesPortal under Campus Applications > Peoplesoft Security Request Form.
Do I need a separate password for SFIS?
No, Wesleyan uses a single user account to access all services that require a log-in. This single sign on username and password will grant access to authorized systems. The Wesleyan Login page serves as a main access page for most web-based services.
What if I forget my password?
ITS has instituted self-serve password reset capability should you forget your password or become locked out during the annual password reset. The link to the application is on the Single Sign On page below the box asking for username and password.
Can I change my existing password myself?
You can change your password via the WesPortal under My Information > Change Password. Wesleyan requires a password change once annually but more frequent changes are permitted and encouraged.
How do I access SFIS?
You access SFIS by opening your WesPortal and clicking on the link named SFIS Database Login under Student Information.
Tip: Once you have entered SFIS, save the URL to your Favorites or Bookmarks, depending upon your browser.
Can I stay logged into SFIS/HRMS all day?
You can directly affect whether you remain logged in all day. To understand how you can remain logged into SFIS, you need to know a little about the PeopleSoft application time-out.
PeopleSoft Application Time-out:
For security purposes, your PeopleSoft system logs you out of your application after 60 consecutive minutes of inactivity. Activity means that you are logged into the application, and actively navigating within the system or entering and saving data within the application. Prior to your session timeout, the system provides a warning that your browser session is about to expire. You can continue with your current session by clicking the OK button in the warning message. If you do not respond within two minutes, the session ends and the expired connection page opens. To return to your application, click the Sign in to PeopleSoft link. The Sign In page appears, and you can once again sign in to your application.
Note: Entering data without saving may not be recognized by the application as activity. Also, all unsaved data if/when you are timed-out is lost and unrecoverable.
