binocularsClick this link to see an updated document demonstrating Query Functions in Expressions on the QUERY – EXPRESSIONS page.  Listed are non-Wesleyan Functions along with examples.  You will see that these are available for viewing in four actual queries.

Functions are special types of command words (in the SQL Command set), usually one-word commands, which manipulate data items and return a single value which can be determined by various input parameters.

Below are some of the sample functions you’ll see in the documentation:

Would you like to create reports and emails and other correspondence based on PeopleSoft Query? Then you you might be interested in learning more about BI Publisher and Comm Gen (Communication Generation).  There is enhanced documentation in the SFIS Blog about both of these PeopleSoft Tools.

BI Publisher (formerly XML Publisher) is an an enterprise reporting solution that streamlines report and form generation. A primary feature of Oracle’s BI Publisher product is the separation of the data extraction process from the report layout. BI Publisher enables you to design and create report layout templates with the more common desktop applications of Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat, and renders XML data based on those templates. With a single template, it can generate reports in many formats. This approach to reporting can dramatically reduce report maintenance, enabling power business users to adjust report templates without involvement of IT resources.

The Comm Gen (Communication Generation) process enables you to select specific fields from which to extract critical data for a letter code assigned to the individual (or organization) IDs for whom you want to generate a communication. Communications in PeopleSoft is one of the “3Cs” which also includes Checklists and Comments. Communication management enables you to manage all forms of outgoing and incoming communications between the institution and constituents.  ( An outgoing communication can be in the form of a letter or an email.)   Campus Community provides the foundation of personal information, ID management, and 3Cs for all of the Campus Solutions applications.
